The Media Fix was in, as far as I can personally attest, as early as last February. If you think Chicago politics doesn't abut New York politics and NY media in a meaningful way, you're just not paying attention.
It's either money and/or fear keeping the MSM away. They won't leave their hotel rooms in Bagdad or walk around alone in Chicago; and your average crime and corruption reporter isn't exactly immune to envying the lifestyles of his subjects.
